Please come and show your support for PUNALU`U, Wed., Sept. 19th at 9am at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort. The County Council will be voting on Resolution 169-07. This resolution will allow the county to begin negotiations for the purchase of 150 acres at Punalu`u that will create a 2,000 feet buffer between future development and the shoreline. The passage of this resolution is an important first step in protecting sacred Punalu`u. | |
YOU CAN TESTIFY AT THE MEETING OR IN HILO AND WAIMEA VIA VIDEO ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Everyone can testify at the meeting and voice their support for the Resolution. Arrive early to sign up. You can just say simply, "I am a resident of Hawai`i and I support the passage of Resolution 169-07 because it will help protect the sacred lands of Punalu`u." Each person will have up to 3 minutes to testify. You can also testify via video from: Hilo Councilroom at the Ben Franklin Building, Second Floor; and Waimea Council Office at the Holomua Center. Testimony may also be submitted (1) by mail to the County Clerk's Office in Hilo at 25 Aupuni St., Hilo, Hawai'i 96720, (2) by facsimile to (808) 961-8912, or (3) by e mail to counciltestimony@co.hawaii.hi.us. | |
