Peace meeting and other upcoming events
Aloha Peace Ohana,
There will be a regular 2nd and 4th Monday of the month Peace Meeting on Monday, Nov. 26th from 7-9PM at the Keaau Community Center in Keaau. There is much to discuss including the recent Army meeting on Depleted Uranium (DU) contamination at Pohakuloa (PTA), the B-2 bombings at PTA, and the increasing Bush war drums for an attack on Iran. Please pass the word and bring friends. Our organizing meetings are becoming increasingly critical in planning for non-violent action to end the wars at home and abroad.
Beside the Peace Meeting there are two other events this week that I ask for your help in spreading the word.
Wednesday, November 28th is Hawaiian Independence Day, the day in 1843 that the Kingdom of Hawaii was welcomed into the family of nations by Brtitain, France, and other countries as a sovereign independent nation state. Nov. 28, 2007 marks the 164th anniversary. There will be an all day celebration beginning at 5AM with an E Ala E sunrise chant and going till 6PM. Free Food, Free Entertainment and a lot of education. All are welcome. The celebration will take place at Maku`u Homesteads at the intersection of the Keaau/Pahoa Highway 130 and Ka`ohuwalu St.. Come and express your solidarity and join in the celebration. Sponsored by the Reinstated Lawful Government.
Thursday, November 29th will be a film showing "Don't Call Me A Saint" about Dorothy Day: Peace and social justice activist and Co founder of the Catholic Worker movement -- spiritual communities of resistance serving the poor through soup kitchens and houses of hospitality. Following the film there will be a panel discussion with Martha Hennessy --Dorthy Day's Granddaughter, Paul Normann - Buddhist & Community organizer and myself. Malu Aina has been greatly inspired by Dorothy Day and the Catholic Worker movement that also included "Agrarian Universities where workers become scholars and scholars become workers."
The film and discussion is free and open to the public. Nov. 29th 6PM UHH Classroom UCB 100 (The new classroom building straight in from the UHH main entrance off Kawili St.) Sponsored by Global Hope and Malu Aina.
Mahalo for passing the word on all of the above. Hope to see you at one or more of the above events.
