STOP THE WAR!

"What does it matter to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty or democracy?"

Mahatma Gandhi

Finally… "The Road Home"  --New York Times Editorial, July 8, 2007

"It is time for the United States to leave Iraq, without any more delay than the Pentagon needs to organize an orderly exit.

Like many Americans, we have put off that conclusion, waiting for a sign that President Bush was seriously trying to dig the United States out of the disaster he created by invading Iraq without sufficient cause, in the face of global opposition, and without a plan to stabilize the country afterward…

President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have used demagoguery and fear to quell Americans' demands for an end to this war. They say withdrawing will create bloodshed and chaos and encourage terrorists. Actually, all of that has already happened - the result of this unnecessary invasion and the incompetent management of this war."

Malu Aina Comment: (The New York Times, like most other mainstream media, has been a war supporter from the get go.  Now more and more are finally taking a position against the war.  They are bailing out like rats jumping from a sinking ship, not out of principle but for pragmatic reasons: the war is lost; the costs are too high in dollars and lives.  Let's be clear.  The Times, and other mainstream media are not critical of the U.S. global empire and the grab for oil and power which is a root cause of this war.)

Not One More Death!  Not One More Dollar!

No War on Iran!

1. Mourn all victims of violence. 2. Reject war as a solution. 3. Defend civil liberties. 4. Oppose all discrimination: anti-Islamic, anti-Semitic, etc. 5. Seek peace through justice in Hawai`i and around the world.
