End the Silence!  Speak Out!

"Good" Germans & "Good" Americans"

After WWII Germans were often asked: "What were you doing when Hitler was rising to power?"  The answer too often was silence, or too little, too late.  The same question needs to be asked of Americans today:  What are we doing while George Bush is waging an illegal and immoral war of aggression abroad and abolishing the bill of rights at home? What are we waiting for -- another U.S. war of aggression, with the possible use of nuclear weapons, on Iran?  More torture conducted in our names?  Silence and inaction is consent to crimes against humanity and our own enslavement to a corporate war machine that runs on fear and phony patriotism.  The continuing crimes of the Bush regime demand resistance here and now.  Not violent resistance.  That will only contribute to the downward spiral of violence consuming our world.  Malu `Aina advocates non-violent resistance in the tradition of Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, where the means that we use are in line with the end sought, where we respect all people even those who oppose us.  This does not mean timidity, moderation, and playing it safe.  The times and crimes demand much more – committed non-violent resistance.

Are you tired of the violent state of the world, fed up with the downward spiral of humanity into perpetual war and greater oppression, and want to speak out for change?   Then join us this Saturday, March 17th for a community rally and march to end the war, share concerns, and create solutions for peace.  Pass the word to family and friends.  Activate don't hibernate!  Your voice and action is important and needed!
